Douglas Benavides approached the 19-year-old motorist while both vehicles had stopped on Old Delaney Roda just before 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 19 in Woodbridge, Prince William County police said.
Benavides pulled out a machete-style knife before driving out of the area, police said. Officers found him at a nearby home where he was determined to be intoxicated, according to police.
Further investigation revealed a 2-year-old girl was in the vehicle with Benavides at the time of the encounter. No injuries were reported and Benavides was charged with felony child neglect, brandishing of a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, DUI, and driving on revoked license.
